Following their legal battles with Facebook and Snapchat, BlackBerry has now filed a patent infringement suit against Twitter claiming Twitter's app improperly uses BlackBerry's mobile messaging intellectual property.
- 9,349,120 - System and method for silencing notifications for a message thread
- 8,296,351 - System and method for pushing information to a mobile device
- 8,676,929 - System and method for pushing information to a mobile device
- 9,021,059 - Data hub server
- 8,286,089 - Representing new messages on a communication device
- 8,572,182 - Handling notifications in instant messaging systems
- 8,065,361 - Apparatus and methods using a data hub server with servers to source and access informational content
The filing is similar, but not identical to those filed against Facebook and Snapchat in that some of the claims deal with how notifications are sent to devices. Given the earlier suits are still in litigation, it'll probably be a while before anything comes of the suit filed against Twitter. You can read the full complaint filed by BlackBerry below.
